Karachi, one of Pakistan's largest metropolitan cities with a population of ~20 million, faces significant public health challenges, particularly in the area of routine immunization. Approximately 50% of Karachi’s population resides in 988 informal settlements (slums), with only 6% officially registered or legally regularized. Certain union councils—including Gujro, Songal, Manghopir, Ittehad Town, Chisti Nagar, Islamia Colony, Muzaffarabad, and Muslimabad—have been identified as Super High Risk Union Councils (SHRUCs) due to critically low immunization coverage.
